MAke the change!
One of the many ways you as a citizen of the United States can make a difference in your community is to talk to one of your representatives in congress. By clicking on the webpage you can pull up all the needed information for you to talk to one of your representatives. In the site, merely click on which type of representative you wish to contact. Then go through the pull down tab to find out exactly which state you are in so you may make the proper connections.

Another great way to make a change in you local community is to put together a petition and get enough people to sign so that the representative you have looked up above knows that your serious about this much needed change! It is a free site that allows you to put out exactly what you need to make a point. It is a three step process that will take you through making an account that is privately accessed by only you.

A very amazing way to gain more support for this cause is to give a donation to the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) community. They are a group determined to support gay rights by setting up public displays and hosting support sessions for the victims of homophobia. They are based in New York City, but have a blog page where you can talk about some issues you or a friend of yours may be having. They have a great map of the U.S.A. that shows the scale of how much we are doing to prevent these poor people from being with the ones they love.
